SAMUDAAY CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS POLICY

Zero Tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

Samudaay is committed to protecting children from sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, grooming, trafficking, harassment and other forms of online harm.

This Child Safety Standards Policy applies to all users, community administrators, trustees, moderators, volunteers and other persons using the Samudaay platform.

1. Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

Samudaay has zero tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (“CSAE”) and Child Sexual Abuse Material (“CSAM”).

Users must not use Samudaay to:

  • Sexually exploit a child
  • Groom a child
  • Sexually solicit a child
  • Attempt to establish sexual contact with a child
  • Request sexual images from a child
  • Send sexual content to a child
  • Arrange sexual activity involving a child
  • Facilitate trafficking or exploitation of a child
  • Create, upload, store, request or distribute CSAM
  • Encourage or promote child abuse or exploitation
  • Direct children to external services for sexual exploitation
  • Threaten or blackmail a child using sexual content
  • Facilitate commercial sexual exploitation of children

Any such activity is strictly prohibited.

2. Definition of Child

For the purposes of this policy, a child means a person below eighteen (18) years of age, subject to applicable Indian law.

3. Prohibited Child Sexual Abuse Material

Users must never upload, transmit, request, distribute, store, share or otherwise facilitate material depicting or exploiting children in a sexual manner.

This includes, without limitation:

  • Sexual photographs of children
  • Sexual videos involving children
  • Sexualised images of children
  • Requests for sexual images from children
  • Sexual communications directed at children
  • Links facilitating access to CSAM
  • Material created to sexually exploit or abuse children

4. Grooming and Sexual Solicitation

Grooming is strictly prohibited.

Users must not attempt to build a relationship with a child for the purpose of:

  • Sexual exploitation
  • Sexual contact
  • Obtaining sexual images
  • Arranging meetings for sexual purposes
  • Manipulating or coercing a child
  • Moving conversations to another platform for exploitation

Any suspected grooming behaviour may result in immediate account restriction or termination.

5. Age-Restricted Features

Certain Samudaay features may be restricted to adults.

In particular, matrimonial and other adult-oriented functionality must not be used by persons under eighteen years of age where such restriction is applicable.

Users must not falsely declare their age or identity to bypass age restrictions.

6. Children’s Educational Information

Samudaay may allow parents, guardians or authorised community administrators to maintain children’s educational information.

Such information must be submitted only by persons with appropriate authority.

Users must not:

  • Publish children’s information unnecessarily
  • Share children’s documents outside authorised community purposes
  • Use educational records to contact or exploit children
  • Download or misuse children’s information
  • Use children’s information for harassment or unlawful purposes

7. Child Safety in User-Generated Content

Samudaay may support user-generated content such as:

  • Photographs
  • Videos
  • Community posts
  • Comments
  • Chat messages
  • Event content

Users are responsible for ensuring that their content complies with this policy.

Content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children is prohibited regardless of whether it is uploaded publicly, privately, in a group, through chat, or through another communication feature.

8. Reporting Child Safety Violations

Users are strongly encouraged to report suspected child-safety violations immediately.

When reporting, users should provide, where safely possible:

  • Description of the concern
  • Username/profile involved
  • Relevant message or content
  • Date and approximate time
  • Event or community involved
  • Any relevant screenshots or evidence

Do not forward or redistribute illegal child sexual abuse material merely for reporting purposes.

9. Immediate Danger

If a child appears to be in immediate physical danger, users should contact local law enforcement or emergency services immediately.

Do not rely solely on a report to Samudaay where immediate physical intervention is required.

10. Review and Enforcement

When we receive a child-safety report, we may take appropriate action including:

  • Reviewing the report
  • Restricting access to reported content
  • Removing violating content
  • Suspending an account
  • Permanently terminating an account
  • Restricting communication functionality
  • Preserving relevant information where legally permitted or required
  • Escalating the matter to appropriate authorities

Serious child-safety violations may result in immediate account termination.

11. Cooperation with Authorities

Where required or permitted by applicable law, Samudaay may cooperate with:

  • Law-enforcement authorities
  • Child-protection authorities
  • Courts
  • Government agencies
  • Other legally authorised organisations

We may provide relevant information where legally required.

12. Prohibition on Circumvention

Users must not attempt to circumvent Samudaay’s child-safety controls, including by:

  • Creating multiple accounts
  • Using false identities
  • Providing false ages
  • Using another person’s account
  • Circumventing account restrictions
  • Moving prohibited conduct to another Samudaay feature
  • Using technical methods to evade moderation

13. Community Administrator Responsibilities

Community administrators and trustees using Samudaay are expected to:

  • Follow this Child Safety Standards Policy
  • Respond appropriately to safety reports
  • Avoid publishing unnecessary children’s personal information
  • Restrict inappropriate content
  • Cooperate with Samudaay investigations
  • Escalate serious child-safety concerns appropriately

Community administrators must not use children’s information for unauthorised purposes.

14. Moderation and Safety Controls

Depending on the feature and technical capabilities available, Samudaay may use:

  • User reporting
  • Account restrictions
  • Content review
  • Access controls
  • Role-based permissions
  • Automated or manual detection mechanisms
  • Administrative review
  • Blocking and suspension mechanisms

No automated system can identify every violation. Users are encouraged to report concerns.

15. Prohibited Behaviour Outside Samudaay

Where unlawful conduct involving Samudaay users or Samudaay services is brought to our attention, we may take appropriate action even if the conduct occurred partly outside the Platform, where legally permissible and relevant to user safety.

16. False Reports

Reports should be made honestly and in good faith.

Users must not knowingly submit false reports to:

  • Harass another person
  • Extort another user
  • Damage another person’s reputation
  • Wrongfully suspend another person’s account
  • Misuse Samudaay’s reporting system

False reporting may itself result in account restrictions.

17. Privacy and Child Safety

Child-safety reports may contain sensitive information.

We will handle such information according to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Information may be retained where necessary for:

  • Safety investigations
  • Legal obligations
  • Law-enforcement requests
  • Fraud prevention
  • Dispute resolution
  • Protection of children and other users

19. Enforcement

Violation of this policy may result in:

  • Warning
  • Content removal
  • Feature restriction
  • Temporary suspension
  • Permanent account termination
  • Blocking of associated accounts
  • Preservation of relevant information
  • Reporting to appropriate authorities

For severe child-safety violations, Samudaay may take immediate action without prior warning.

20. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Child Safety Standards Policy to reflect:

  • Changes in applicable law
  • Changes in platform functionality
  • Changes in app-store requirements
  • New safety practices
  • Changes in child-protection standards

The latest version will be published on the Samudaay website or within the application.
